You just received your first bag of Carry Kumba Tea…but you are unsure of how to steep it? Don’t worry, in this blog we will give you the easiest, quickest, and best ways to steep your loose-leaf tea!
The Quick and Easy Method
The easiest way to steep loose-leaf tea does require a small piece of kitchenware with either a loose tea filter bag or a tea infuser. This essentially allows you to use your own loose-leaf tea instead of whatever tea comes pre-packaged.
Disposable loose tea bags are arguably the easiest option as you just use the tea bag and toss it when done. Small tip, if you purchase tea bags look for “unbleached tea bags”. Bleached tea bags can affect the flavor of your tea from the dye used.
Infusers require a little more cleanup, but are reusable and don’t require you to constantly purchase more tea bags. These are very popular for tea drinkers who typically make only a cup of tea at a time.
Now that you have the equipment, let’s go over the process of how to steep tea.
- Place your loose-leaf tea in either your tea bag or infuser. (You will find out your perfect amount of tea through trial and error *we recommend to start with 3-4 grams of tea per 8oz of water*. For more flavor, add more tea and for weaker tea, use less tea.)
- Next, boil your water to between 170 and 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Be mindful to not get the water too hot -- Steeping at too high of a temperature could result in a bitter, unpleasant taste.
- Place your tea bag or infuser into a mug, and fill the cup with your boiling water.
- Wait anywhere from 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the tea to steep. Herbal-infused teas benefit from a longer steep.
- Finally, pull your tea bag or infuser out, give it a stir and enjoy!
The Best Way to Steep Tea
In our opinion, the best method to steep tea is using a teapot that has a built-in infuser. This not only gives great flavor but is the most therapeutic routine to enjoying your CBD Tea. Now, the only thing you will need to purchase is a teapot with a built-in infuser.
The process is pretty similar to the method above:
- Place your loose-leaf tea into the infuser in your teapot.
- Fill the infuser with water until it fills up your teapot.
- Place the lid on the teapot and wait 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the tea to steep. Herbal-infused teas benefit from a longer steep.
- Finally, simply pour the tea into your favorite teacup and enjoy!
